Lifestyle diseases are noncommunicable conditions that are associated with unhealthy diet and physical inactivity. If you are not careful, these conditions can lead to major medical conditions such as stroke, heart disease, and obesity. In addition, they are associated with depression, obesity, and diabetes. However, there are ways to avoid lifestyle diseases. The key is to adopt a healthy lifestyle that involves regular physical activity. Here are some ways to do that.

Drinking and smoking are two of the biggest lifestyle diseases. Alcohol consumption is known to cause chronic hepatitis, which affects the liver. Heavy drinking, however, is also considered a lifestyle disease, because the consequences of excessive alcohol abuse can be severe. Alcohol abuse can also result in nephritis, which is an inflammation of the kidneys caused by an allergic reaction. Bacteria can also enter the body through street food that is not prepared in a hygienic environment.

Healthy eating and moderate physical activity are key to preventing lifestyle diseases. Regular physical activity, such as taking a brisk walk, swimming, or other daily activities, can significantly reduce the risk of metabolic diseases in adulthood. Quitting smoking, limiting alcohol and red meat intake, and taking part in daily exercise are also effective ways to prevent lifestyle diseases. And, new studies suggest that exercise can prevent recurrent respiratory tract infections in children.

Healthy living habits can help you live longer. Lifestyle is a personal choice, but we cannot ignore the role of diet in our health. Research shows that a healthy diet is directly related to our BMI. In urban societies, poor diet leads to obesity. Furthermore, an active lifestyle has been linked with happiness. The effects of lifestyle diseases are not immediate, but can have long-term consequences. The benefits of an active lifestyle are numerous.
